The new Server switchover will probably happen tomorrow afternoon/evening (Wed 3rd). This will obviously result in an interruption of the service during the switch over. We experienced problems over the weekend with the server. The Jabber service was restarted a few times, and the whole server was rebooted this morning. It now appears to be running happily.
The server that the jabber.org.uk service runs on will soon be upgraded. Hopefully the transistion from the old server to the new will be done with minimal downtime. Well, after checking it out for myself, it seems that Google have have flipped the switch and allowed server-to-server communications. What does this mean for you? Well it means you can talk to your friends who use Google Talk now.
