The server had to be pulled offline for some maintenance earlier. Apologies for the abrupt nature of this, but it’s working once again.

Migration Closed

Jabber.org.uk account migration has been going on for over six months and so it has now been closed. You can now register new accounts (using “Your Account” in the Links on the right) on the jabber.org.uk domain. You cannot, as yet, register in-band (within your Jabber client) - though this will be enabled soon.

Please remember as per the AUP accounts not used for six months may well be deleted.

MSN issues

It seems that the MSN Transport seems to have stopped working down to a client version bug. It’s been fixed and you should be able to run it again.

Last chance to migrate your account…

As of August 15th it will be six months since we migrated to ejabberd. On or after the 16th we will be opening up the jabber.org.uk domain for new registrations and you will no longer be able to migrate pre-ejabberd accounts. So if you have an account to keep please do so now.

The xmpp.org.uk domain will remain open for free registrations as it’s always been.

Service restart - Updated

This jabber service will have to be restarted shortly to upgrade SSL keys as per Debian Security Advisory 1571 .

Update: Key has been updated and everything is back running again.

Service Restart & Port 443

The Jabber service decided to enter some limbo state this morning and so I restarted it. I had a couple of reports of port 443 (SSL) not working and so restarted that also. All should be working once again.

New accounts

We have a new domain (xmpp.org.uk) which is open for registration for new accounts. You can use your client to register, or if your client does not allow this you can use the new web based registration form The jabber.org.uk domain will be closed for registrations for the time being, but migration of your existing account will remain open.

The new server code is up and running. To be able to log in you must first migrate your existing jabber.org.uk account. This process doesn’t take too long, but we will require an email address. Please read the notes carefully. I will be on the jabber conference room tonight for a while in case of any problems.

Registrations are closed on jabber.org.uk for the time being.
